Ever since the introduction of the original vortex a few years back the world of 3D audio was never the same. Aureal proved it was possible for realistic sounding 3D audio from 2 speakers. In the past few months the competition has been fierce between both creative and Aureal in the field of 3D audio.

The vortex 2 sound chip has been available for quite some time now, and has gained a vary large amount of developer support. This is good considering how much of an impact 3D sound can have on your gaming experience. The SQ1500 (A3D 1.0 board), and the SQ2500 (A3D 2.0) boards is Aureal's first major shot at the retail sound market. Within the next few months, look for the A3D 3.0 to be a strong contender in the Audio market just as soon as A3D releases it, along with its upcoming SQ3500 PCI sound card.
