"The gameplay is virtually flawless with a few tedious bits here and there, but nothing worth mentioning."

The Verdict

If you ignore the fact that Thief2 is far to similar to the original, so much so you could play either and have just as much fun, then it's easily worth 90%. However if you take into account the similarities being to strong then it's more 80%. The gameplay is virtually flawless with a few tedious bits here and there, but nothing worth mentioning.

Graphics are strong if a little dated and far to dark, so much so that at times we couldn't play because it was almost 100% dark and the earlier stages of the game give you no way to light such areas. Sound is perfect and you simply can't fault it, although perhaps some use of 'dramatic music' might have heightened the mood in places.

Overall Thief2 is a top class game, we chose to ignore the fact it was so similar to the original and just concentrate on how it is now. The only real problem being that you're still 'led' in the game, at the end of the day you have limited interaction with your environment and that can be a little frustrating, maybe Thief3?
