"The standard sized tower or desk system will likely stay in full circulation for the best part of 10 more years."

Before we get on to giving you our own rather intriguing ideas on the future, stop and have a think. Imagine you could make the ultimate PC, now what would it look like? We don't mean spec wise either.

The missing link

The standard sized tower or desk system will likely stay in full circulation for the best part of 10 more years. The reason behind this stems from the fact that technology is now moving so quick that it's exceeding the speed at which we can shrink it. Such is evidence in more recent systems from Mac (Motorola), Intel and AMD where the sheer scale of new technology is making things bigger rather than smaller.

Eventually this will have to stop as before to long Silicone will start to run out and drive computer prices through the roof before a new technology comes along. One other factor to remember is that you can only shrink silicone so far, we are already at 0.18 microns and such a decrease in size has occurred in a dramatically short space of time. In 10years technology will no longer be following the same path and that is why the revolution will finally be able to take place.

The question on everybody's lips can now finally be answered; the future is the missing link between the desktop and the palmtop system. We can't use palmtops for the next generation because they are simply too small and desktops are fast being impractical to use due to their size. The key has been standing in front of us for years but never properly put to use, it is the Laptop.
